How to add text to a photo in PhotoCraft

Use the Type tool to add a caption, title or watermark-style text to any photo, then export the result. No installation, no account — version reference: 0.10.0.

For PhotoCraft 0.10.0. Keep the original file and check layers, fonts and the saved or exported result before relying on a complex PSD.

Open your photo, pick the Type tool (T), click the canvas and type. The text lands on its own layer, so you can move, restyle or remove it without touching the photo. This guide is written against the PhotoCraft 0.10.0 build hosted on this site.

How do I add new text to a photo?

  1. Open the editor and choose File → Open to load your photo (or drag the image in). Want to practice first? Download the sample image and open it the same way.
  2. Select the Type tool — press T or pick it from the toolbar.
  3. Click on the canvas where the text should start and type.
  4. Press Escape or switch tools to finish editing the text.

How do I change the font, size and color?

With the text layer selected in the Layers panel:

  • Use the Type / Character controls to set the font family, size and spacing. PhotoCraft ships with a small set of built-in fonts; a desktop host can serve more.
  • Set the color from the color controls before or after typing — the text layer remembers it.

Keep captions short and place them where letters stay readable against the photo.

How do I move the text?

The text lives on its own layer. Choose the Move tool (V) and drag the text on the canvas, or select the text layer in the Layers panel and use the move controls. Because the layer is separate, the photo underneath is never overwritten — see working with layers for visibility and ordering.

What if a font is missing?

Two different situations:

  • You are adding new text and want a font the editor does not offer — pick a built-in font that fits, or install the desktop app where the host may provide additional fonts.
  • You opened a PSD whose fonts are not available — PhotoCraft substitutes them. Check the PSD text editing guide for what that means before you save.

How do I get the finished image out?

Export when it looks right: File → Export and choose PNG (lossless, keeps transparency) or JPG (smaller, no transparency). The file downloads to your device — the full workflow, including re-checking the result, is in the save and export guide.

No autosave exists in the web build, so save or export before closing the tab.
