For PhotoCraft 0.10.0. Keep the original file and check layers, fonts and the saved or exported result before relying on a complex PSD.
PhotoCraft 0.10.0 opens the common image formats plus layered PSD documents, and exports PNG, JPG and more. The table below distinguishes what we verified from what we did not — “the upstream docs list a format” is weaker evidence than “we opened a file of that type in the pinned build.”
Format matrix
| Format | Opens in 0.10.0 | Layers / text kept | Export | Our test status |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| PNG | Yes | n/a (flat) | Yes | Common baseline; used across our guides |
| JPG | Yes | n/a (flat) | Yes | Common baseline; used across our guides |
| PSD (layered) | Yes | Layers and text layers are read | Re-saved as PSD | Core workflow of this site; see limits below |
| DDS | Yes (partial) | Surface/level handling varies | Not verified | Open path exists in the pinned build; we did not verify complex DDS variants |
| PSB (large PSD) | Not verified | — | — | Listed upstream; untested here |
| Krita (KRA/ORA) | Not verified | — | — | Untested here |
| Camera RAW | Partial | — | — | Upstream ships RAW handling code; untested here |
Which formats can PhotoCraft open?
Use File → Open or drag a file onto the canvas. Flat images (PNG, JPG) arrive as a single background layer. PSD documents arrive with their layer structure — see opening PSDs without Photoshop.
Does PhotoCraft keep layers and text?
For PSD files: yes, with caveats. Layer visibility, order, text content and masks generally survive the round trip in straightforward documents. Complex Photoshop features (advanced effects, smart-object internals, some adjustment types) may degrade or rasterize. Test your specific document before relying on it — the failure patterns are described in why a PSD will not open.
What can it export?
Export writes flat images — PNG (with alpha) and JPG at minimum — through the File menu’s export flow. Saving keeps the layered document as PSD. Both download to your device; see save and export.
What about DDS, PSB, Krita and RAW files?
- DDS (a texture format used by games): the pinned build can open DDS files, but DDS has many variants (compression types, mipmaps, cube maps). We did not verify which variants preserve everything — expect partial support and check the result.
- PSB is Photoshop’s large-document variant; it is on the upstream roadmap list but we did not test it here.
- Krita documents and camera RAW files: upstream includes handling code paths, but we cannot claim verified support in this build. Treat them as untested.
A practical rule for any format outside PNG/JPG/PSD: try one representative file before a real project, and keep the original.
